The United States is a major producer of aluminum, including upstream unwrought aluminum and semifinished wrought aluminum products. This report, a follow-up to Silverado’s report Unwrought and Wrought Aluminum: U.S. Production and Trade, examines the current state of aluminum production at the state level. It is the fourth in a series of reports on the U.S. steel and aluminum industries intended to inform policy discussions on border pollution measures (BPM), which are intended to address the carbon leakage and competitive imbalances that may result when high-emitting countries export to low-emitting economies.
