CFR Hosts Launch Event for Joint CFR-Silverado Policy Accelerator Report

On Monday, the Council on Foreign Relations hosted a launch event for the joint CFR–Silverado Policy Accelerator report, Leapfrogging China’s Critical Minerals Dominance, coauthored by Silverado’s Mahnaz Khan and CFR’s Heidi Crebo-Rediker .
The event opened with a keynote from Audrey Robertson , Assistant Secretary of Energy and Head of the Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) . She discussed how DOE is approaching the challenge of securing critical mineral supply chains through innovation and how the Department is supporting both public and private R&D across mining, refining, and recycling.
This was followed by a panel discussion on securing U.S. supply chains from China featuring:
- Heidi Crebo-Rediker, Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and report coauthor
- Mahnaz Khan, VP of Policy for Critical Supply Chains, Silverado Policy Accelerator
- Nathan Ratledge , Founder and CEO of Alta Resource Technologies
- Sarah Sewal l, Vice President of National Innovation Strategy at In-Q-Tel
- Moderated by Stephen Rodriguez of the Atlantic Council.
The report launch provided an opportunity to explore how the United States and its partners can strengthen critical mineral supply chains, support breakthrough technologies, capitalizing on mineral waste, while mobilize financing and allied partnerships.
